Opinion: Carbon fibre composites emerge as the future metal for manufacturing, ET Auto

Composites, especially carbon fibre composites, are disrupting the manufacturing process and products properties by providing the design engineers enhanced material properties which cannot be achieved with conventional materials/metals Carbon fibre has grown in popularity across many industries because it offers high stiffness, low weight, high tensile strength, high chemical resistance, high-temperature tolerance and low thermal expansion. Carbon fibre is stronger than steel, weighs less and is twice as stiff. This means that carbon fibre can be used to optimize performance of parts and is particularly useful for construction, military, aerospace, automotive and more. Carbon fibre can replace other materials in designs that have unsatisfactory performance or increased lifecycle costs.
